Precision and Perfection

Figure Skate Sharpening, Blade Mounting, and Analyzing Skate-Related Problems

Fred's Skate Sharpening is an independent service specializing in figure skate sharpening, blade mounting and analyzing skate-related problems. I am located in the Detroit Skating Club. World and Olympic champions have depended on my services for predictable perfection, most recently Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto, the 2006 Olympic Ice Dancing Silver Medalists!

Getting ready for next month's U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Saint Paul, Minnesota, defending National Pair Champions Brooke Castile and Benjamin Okolski have high hopes of repeating last year's success in Spokane.

Brooke and Ben train at the Arctic Edge in Canton, Michigan and can be seen there sharing the ice with Tanith Belbin, Ben Agosto and a host of other National Champions and hopefuls. Mornings, Monday through Friday, are the best times to catch a preview of what's to come next month in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Though much an old world approach to sharpening, my feel for edges is a perfect balance between science and art.

Most work is done on an appointment basis, though walkups are never turned away when time permits. Click here to schedule an appointment.
